The Thillen Education Foundation (TEF) expresses its sincere gratitude to the community for the overwhelming support on Giving Tuesday.
The goal was to raise $180,000 to replenish the financial assistance awarded to 2024 graduates in the career coaching program at Greene College & Career Academy inside Greene County High School. Thanks to very strong community support a total of over $200,000 was received.
TEF financial assistance is provided in five unique ways:
All students in the career coaching program participate - Over 600 students during the past seven years.
Students earn financial awards throughout all four years of high school.
Financial assistance can be used for further education, professional supplies needed to begin a career, or to enter the military.
The program allows earned financial assistance to be used for up to two years after graduation or six years if in military service.
Seniors in the coaching program can also apply for additional scholarship or career start packages.
TEF announced that all 83 seniors who participated in the 2023-24 career coaching program graduated, achieving a 100% graduation rate. They all shared in the $180,000 in financial assistance to help launch their post-high school plans.
In addition to increasing graduation rates the Thillen Education Foundation announced that its program also helps high school students stay focused on activities that will better their lives and become better citizens. Between the first and third graduating classes under the Foundation the following increases in performance have been realized:
Attending College +89%
Career Starts/Military +250%
On Track to Graduate Before Senior Year +94%
Community Service Recognition +616%
