Impact Update: Q1 2022

Updated: Apr 29, 2023

First Class

Graduates – May 2022

The Foundation will convert more than $100,000 in earned Dave Dollars towards the next step in this year's graduating students' futures. Over 65% of seniors are applying for Next Step Funds in addition to their Dave Dollars. Over 10% plan on entering the military. Pathway Packages with identified supplies required for career launches have been created for each technical pathway in which our students are trained.

Outreach

Keeping the Community Informed

Since the launch of the Capital Campaign, the Foundation has held six private home events. In addition, TEF has presented to the Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties, Lake Oconee Area Builders' Association, and 100 Women Who Care.

Goal Achieved

$1M and Growing Daily

As of December 31, 2021, together we reached our campaign goal of $1,000,000 to help end generational poverty in our community, and we will keep going.

Focus Shifts

Corporations, Grants, Foundations

Our corporate outreach strategy begins locally with potential employers for our graduates. Dedicated individuals are identifying and applying for Georgia grants through private and family foundations.

Radio Presence Grows

Throughout the state, 82 Georgia News Network Radio stations played founder Dave Thillen's Career Coaching story. Close Up Radio will be conducting a 30-minute interview in April.

Outside Interest Rises

Hosted a 30-minute Zoom with Congressman Jody Hice, a second career center visit by the Carl Vinson Institute, and a two-hour visit and tour with the Institute for Performance Improvement. Zoom sessions with two interested school systems (Morgan County & Whitfield County).

Career Coaches Increase

Twenty new career coaches have committed to volunteering for the 2022-23 school year. Student appointments continue increasing to over 4,000 per school year.

Donated Bus

Enables Career Growth

The mini-bus donated by Gypsum Management & Supply (GMS) is used weekly for students' career development events with local employers. A new partnership with the local Boys & Girls Club provides a safe place for field trip returns after hours.

Based in Greensboro, GA, the 501(c)(3) Thillen Education Foundation (TEF) is a distinguished community-based earned financial assistance program based on personal coaching and committed to honoring the achievements of 450 students participating in Greene College & Career Academy at Greene County High School, a Title I school. Through corporate sponsorships and funding support, TEF strives to break the cycle of systemic poverty by financially enabling post-secondary education and skills training for hardworking students.
